The University of Valladolid (UVa) is one of the most important centres of Higher Education in Spain. The UVa manages around 850 research projects financed through competitive public R+D+i calls (European, national or regional), and approx. 500 contracts and agreements aimed at the transfer of knowledge and technology. UVa has a long experience in international projects in most research disciplines. UVa has its human resources policy fully aligned with the Charter&Code for Researchers based on the OTM-R. UVA has been awarded with the seal of excellence “HR Excellence in Research” by the European Commission.
UVa TermoCal has over 30 years of experience undertaking research in 1) Fundamental Metrology and 2) Thermophysical Properties and Phase Behaviour of multicomponent fluid mixtures over wide ranges of temperatures, pressures and chemical compositions. TermoCal offers adequate equipment for a comprehensive thermophysical and thermodynamic characterisation of gases and liquids, and an accredited laboratory for calibration of temperature and pressure devices. In their laboratories, there are some of the best and most accurate techniques for measuring properties such as phase equilibria, density, viscosity, heat of mixing, heat capacities, speeds of sound and dielectric constants. These properties are needed to develop advanced molecular and engineering modelling, reliable standards, traceable measurements and validated novel techniques.
Research areas of interest are 1) Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS); 2) Bioenergy/biofuels; 3) Hydrogen production, transport and storage; 4) New temperature and humidity standards; 5) Geothermal energy.
